Childs Transferware Teapot Cinderella Glass Slipper Prince Charming 1890
Rare Child's Transferware Tea Pot. This is an amazing child's toy miniature transferware teapot, circa 1890. Originally part of a child's complete tea set made for dollhouse play and tea parties, the little teapot stands 4-1/4 tall. Transfer printed in a rich chocolate brown, with a string of ivy surrounding the inside the rim and down the handle. The original set featured the sequence of scenes from the story of Cinderella. This teapot depicts Cinderella riding in her coach on her way to the ball, accompanied by horses and horsemen. The caption below the image reads: CINDERELLA ON HER WAY TO THE BALL. The reverse side of the pitcher has the image of Cinderella's glass slipper. Each side of the spout is further embellished with a tiny mouse. The teapot is marked with British Registration number 128955. Identical in style and quality to the wares made in Staffordshire, this piece was made by T. Green, a pottery manufactory in the Derbyshire region of England who registered the Cinderella pattern in the year 1889. The pattern was only made for four years and pieces from the sets are quite hard to find. The teapot is in great condition. There is a small chip on the underside of the spout and a tiny fracture on the top rim, noticeable on close examination. No other chips, cracks or restorations. A striking example of a highly sought after pattern. This fabulous little piece depicting the much beloved fairy tale will make a fantastic addition to any collection of brown aesthetic transferware, and collectors of doll dishes or children's early nursery rhymes and fairy tales will proudly add this to their display. We have also listed other children's transferware with nursery rhymes and whimsical animal images.
